1. Award Overview

The evaluation results of the 2026 China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award were officially announced recently. With the project R&D and Application of Heavy-Duty Grinding Robots, Treeinco was awarded the Third Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of the China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award. It is the first enterprise in the casting grinding robot industry to receive this honor!

Approved and filed by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award is the highest scientific and technological honor in China’s machinery sector. Jointly established by the China Machinery Industry Federation and the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, it represents authoritative recognition of scientific and technological achievements within the domestic machinery industry.

This awarded project was recommended by the China Foundry Association for joint review by the China Machinery Industry Federation and the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. As the primary lead completion unit, Treeinco spearheaded the R&D, together with Weichai (Weifang) Material Forming & Manufacturing Center Co., Ltd., Xiangtan University and Hunan University of Science and Technology, to deliver technological development and industrial implementation. Standing out from 1,487 nominated projects, Treeinco set a precedent for the casting grinding robot industry winning this prestigious award.

As the first enterprise in the industry to receive this award, Treeinco has earned high recognition from authoritative technical experts for the advanced nature and industrial value of its intelligent casting grinding robot system. It also acknowledges the company’s years of dedication to intelligent foundry robot equipment and breakthroughs in flexible casting grinding challenges. 2. Technological Advantages

Among the earliest players in the industry to independently develop 3D vision software and algorithm systems, Treeinco leads the transition of grinding technology from simple mechanization and fixed-program grinding to intelligent industrial agent-based grinding. Built on proven industrial robot platforms, this intelligent system enables conventional industrial robots to see, perceive, compute, make decisions and execute tasks.

Targeting longstanding industry pain points such as substantial dimensional deformation of castings, low grinding accuracy of traditional equipment and strict requirements for fixed fixture positioning, Treeinco has built an integrated embodied intelligent technology system covering 3D vision perception and algorithms, rigid-flexible grinding tools, closed-loop grinding force control and an expert process database. The robots can automatically identify casting profiles, adjust and optimize grinding trajectories independently, and dynamically regulate grinding force to realize autonomous “perception-decision-execution” operation. This reduces heavy reliance on operator experience and fixed programs. Treeinco pioneered the deployment of industrial embodied intelligence in high-contact grinding scenarios, solved adaptability challenges for such working conditions, and filled gaps in intelligent post-processing for foundries with remarkable technological innovation.

3. Proven Industrial Deployment

Leveraging technical outcomes from this project, Treeinco became the first enterprise in the industry to achieve industrialized application of embodied intelligent casting grinding solutions. Its products have been widely adopted by well-known manufacturers including Weichai, Yuchai, ASIMCO, Huaxiang, CRRC, Huxiwang, Impro, Qingte and Hanhua. The intelligent grinding robot agent system has been deployed for large-scale commercial use at dozens of leading foundries at home and abroad. Reliable machining precision, consistent grinding quality, stable equipment operation and user-friendly operation in long-term mass production underpin Treeinco’s leading repurchase rate across the sector.

The solution effectively mitigates occupational health risks caused by dust and noise in grinding workshops, helps foundries improve quality, boost efficiency and cut costs, and delivers replicable intelligent transformation solutions for large foundries worldwide.

4. University-Enterprise Collaboration

This awarded project serves as an outstanding example of deep industry-university-research integration. Led by Treeinco, the joint R&D team includes Xiangtan University, Hunan University of Science and Technology, and leading foundry enterprise Weichai (Weifang) Material Forming & Manufacturing Center Co., Ltd. Treeinco focuses on prototype development, algorithm research, engineering implementation and product iteration; Weichai provides real production environments, process standards and industrial verification platforms; university teams conduct fundamental research and simulation optimization. Complementary strengths across all partners form a complete innovation chain from basic research and technical tackling to on-site line application, establishing a sustainable long-term mechanism for collaborative innovation between enterprises and academic institutions.
