Equipped with a universal 6‑axis industrial robot, the system performs mold‑closing operations for individual sand‑mold sets up to 360 kg and handling operations for back‑to‑back sand‑mold sets up to 580 kg. The composite‑design fixture enables direct mold‑closing on pallets as well as handling of locked sand‑mold assemblies. A vision system is integrated into the fixture. Sand molds are clamped by air cylinders with an automatic pressure‑regulation system to prevent surface damage caused by over‑clamping small‑size sand molds. The versatile fixture supports gripping of sand molds ranging from 1000 mm to 1400 mm in length without part‑changeover. Silicone rubber is fitted on mold‑contact surfaces to avoid sand‑mold damage.
