The articles are as follows:

On an automated production line, a robotic arm is precisely grinding a heavy-duty engine cylinder block. In the past, a skilled craftsman would take a full day to complete 20 pieces — now, this equipment accomplishes the same in just one hour. Similarly, for grinding an automotive axle, an experienced worker could only finish 6 pieces in 10 to 12 hours, whereas the intelligent equipment can consistently achieve an output of 6 pieces per hour.

This is not a vision of the future, but a real transformation at Hunan Quanyu Industrial Equipment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Quanyu Industrial"), an enterprise based in Yuhua Economic Development Zone. As the "foundation" of industry, the foundry sector provides essential components for virtually all industrial sectors — automotive, aerospace, rail transportation, and beyond — with nearly half of the world's castings produced in China. However, one critical step — the grinding of casting roughcast — has long remained "90% manual, 10% mechanical," making it a notoriously difficult link to automate. Through continuous exploration, Quanyu Industrial has achieved a key breakthrough in this field.

Recently, our reporter visited Quanyu Industrial. "The very nature of casting means that no two rough castings are exactly alike," explained Wu Zhenyu, General Manager of Quanyu Industrial. The subtle variations that occur as molten metal cools and solidifies within the mold render traditional automation equipment — which relies on fixed programs — ineffective. Only human eyes for judgment and human hands for adjustment have been able to cope.

Since 2012, Quanyu Industrial has been deeply engaged in tackling this challenge of "uncertainty within certainty." The team has gradually refined and transformed the otherwise intangible "feel" and "eye" of skilled craftsmanship, building a complete "perception-decision-execution" intelligent closed-loop for industrial robots.

Through a high-precision 3D vision system, the robot first acquires "smart eyes," enabling it to instantly scan and identify the unique three-dimensional morphology of each casting. Subsequently, its self-developed AI algorithms serve as the "brain," comparing real-time data with standard models and calculating the optimal grinding path, angle, and force within milliseconds. Finally, flexible tools equipped with force-control sensors act as "dexterous hands," executing the grinding process while providing real-time feedback and adjustments — much like an indefatigable master craftsman.

Wu Zhenyu explained that by enabling robots to see, understand, and act, Quanyu Industrial has endowed them with the autonomous decision-making capability to cope with the complexities of the physical world.

The intelligent transformation of the grinding process not only liberates workers from harsh environments but also breaks the long-standing "data blind spot" in this环节. Quanyu's equipment makes every grinding operation quantifiable, traceable, and optimizable — completing a critical piece of the digital closed-loop for the entire casting production line.

These technological breakthroughs have garnered a strong market response. Its products have been widely adopted by dozens of leading foundry enterprises including Weichai Power, indirectly serving numerous renowned domestic and international brands such as Cummins and Sany Heavy Industry across various industries, achieving a customer repurchase rate of nearly 90%.

In 2024, Quanyu assisted in the construction of a 60,000-ton-per-year intelligent casting factory in Shanxi, creating an Asia-leading "castings never touch the floor" full-process benchmark. This project upgraded the traditionally dust-filled cleaning workshop into a clean, intelligent space comparable to an automotive welding shop.

Since relocating to the Yuhua Economic Development Zone Robot Industrial Park in 2023, Quanyu Industrial has been vividly demonstrating — through its core "hand-eye" capabilities — how "AI + manufacturing" is transitioning from concept to workshop floor, effectively driving the transformation and upgrading of the traditional foundry industry.
